Technology Internship -- Web Applications

United Cerebral Palsy's national office in Washington D.C. is seeking to staff a summer internship working with the technology team.  The intern will assist in the development, deployment and maintenance of new and existing web-based applications and services.

Candidates should have experience with or interest in one or more of the following categories:

  • Interpreted Web Scripting Languages: PHP/Symfony, Python, Ruby/Rails, Perl
  • Frontend Web Development languages: XHTML, XML, CSS, javascript, JSON, AJAX
  • Systems Administration: LAMP stack configuration and other open source technologies
  • Mobile Development: iOS/Android development

The intern will have the opportunity to work with the technology team on one or more of the following projects:

  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) / Section 508 validation application
  • Website template library design and development
  • RSS feed aggregation / editorial utility
  • Plugin development for a Symfony-based content management system
  • User interface / interaction design

Experience with vector and raster graphic applications, the Unix command line interface and version control software is desired but not required.  For consideration, please submit a resume and cover letter briefly describing your interests and the type of project you would be interested in pursuing to .
